Want to know some of the basic lingo used by Twitter and its members.  Read this blog to find out some of the basic terms with definitions to help you get started.

Twitter has its own terminology which can be confusing to new users (microbloggers).

Below are some definitions to help you with this new language;
Microblogger
A member of twitter who posts interesting text of a maximum 140 character.  Therefore being brief and succinct unlike standard blogs that go on and on and on.
Tweet
The microblog posted on Twitter by a member is referred to as a tweet.
This is another member of twitter that is following your tweets.  A follower has signed up with you to automatically receive any posts you make to your account.
Following
This is another member that you have chosen to follow. You have signed up with a member to automatically recieve any posts that they make on their account.
@reply
This is seen at the start of a message sent from one member to another.  These are public messages that anyone can see in your twitter updates.
Direct message
This is a private message from one member to another.  Only you can view the direct message, it is not available on your public wall.  You can only send direct messages to Tweeters you are following and you can only view direct messages when you are logged into your twitter account.
