The details below followed on from a conversation I had with an existing client, I felt that the details would be of interest to a wider audience, so please read on......
As discussed, you have a number of options for moving your website forward and the ones we discussed were as follows;
- Newsletter in PDF format – search engines love PDFs, they are highly readable and usually contain rich text that the search engines can use. Price £low, just your time in creating them and then they can be easily uploaded.
- Blogs – We offer an add-on blogging module, please take a look at Bhlaw news page, there you will see an example of the module.
- Content Managed Website – yes this can be done and the best way to do it is to have a CMS or Content Managed Website, we can’t turn your current website into a CMS one so we would have to start again from scratch, we do 3 basic packages varying in price, with the base system you will get a new home page design, a contact form and the administration system which provides a word like interface where you can add as many pages as you wish, I’ll give you three reference sites to take a look at; Art of Brilliance, Chic Hair and Beauty Group and Hinckley United Football team.
- Search Engine Optimisation – There are two reasons to keep your website up to date and they reflect the two markets; search engines and human beings. Search engines like changes as it shows them that your businesses is moving forward and gives them new content to index your site on, people like changes as it keeps them up-to-date on what is happening in your business and what you can offer. The advantage to you over the other options is that we will prompt you for information in order to add content to your website, this at least takes some of the onus off yourselves as I know you are busy.
- Ad-hoc changes – I didn’t mention this one but it is another option, when requested by you we make specific changes like any staff changes you have, in conjunction with this you could still do the newsletters. Price is dependent on the type and quantity of the changes, but we do have fixed figures for a new page and an amendment.
- Email Marketing – Basically this is keeping in touch with customers and prospects on a regular (usually monthly) basis, you could simply send a manual email from Outlook, but the best way to do it is to use a proper email marketing program like Constant Contact or Mail Chimp. I’ve just started using the latter and it’s free if you have less than 500 contacts and send less than 3000 emails per month – sounded too good to ignore! These “proper” email marketing systems give you stats like how many emails failed and how many were opened.
