Should video be present on your website?
Demand for video is on the rise and is set to consume the world wide web. Businesses looking to stay ahead of the game and maintain good ranking are strongly advised to look at adding video to their website. Google is rumored to be working on new algorithms that will be able to interpret the content of online video's and use the information to rank your website.
So if you have a good ranking and want to stay ahead of your market then get video. As those who have it will find their Google rankings sore when their new algorithm is introduced. But remember not all video is great and can do your website halm so if you do add video to your website then make sure it is good relevant video. It will be as important as your text to get right and ensure the relevance promotes your key phrases.
Video Content and Reputation
Don't turn your viewers off your website with poor video content, otherwise you will have wasted your time. As with everything on your website the content needs to be both search engine and viewer friendly. Spend time on getting a quality video done as the content is much harder to change than text and it can have huge impact on your clients whether it is positive or negative. As with all advertising it is needs to be responsible, attractive and informative to ensure a positive impact and increased business.
Text content as always is important but in the future can be enhanced with a good video that will offer your clients with a unique online experience that can't be found elsewhere. Make sure your website text is solid and informative to attract clients and give them a reason to spend a little more time on your website encouraging them to view your video.
Video Length
A good rule of thumb is to keep it short and punchy and deliver your message quickly. Most people generally don't have the time to watch lengthy video, unless it is really is true entertainment or is incredibly useful to them. Remember a lengthy blog of a couple of thousand words is time consuming to read but a short 1 minute video could deliver the same message much more quickley and effectively.
Specnet Video Trial
Specnet are currently experimenting with video and during January are putting together some testimonial video's which some of our customers have taken part in. We are looking forward to the finished result and seeing them on our own website. It will be interesting to see how much impact our testimonial video's will have on our own website traffic, ranking and business.
